Proposal

Tree Preservation Order EL:90/09 - Tree Number 1 on the plan is a London Plane, between 35 and 40 metres tall. It blocks out much of the light in the garden in the morning, and impedes the growth of False Acacia (tree Number 2 below). It has branches protruding over the drive of our neighbour (9 Esher Place Avenue), and also over the road and the verge which has a great deal of pedestrian traffic. We have applied a number of time for permission for a crown reduction, but have only been permitted to do thinning. As a result the tree has continued to grow, and now is at least 15 metres taller than when we bought the house 28 years ago. It is now three times the height of number 9 Esher Place Avenue and is causing our neighbours concern for their personal safety and concern about damage to their property. This is outlined in their attached email. We are concerned about the risk from storms and high winds, particularly if the roots have been weakened by the very dry weather over the last 2 or 3 years. Now we would like permission to do a crown reduction of 5-8 metres and corresponding shaping, to include removal of branches overhanging the verge and road Tree Number 2 is a False Acacia, approximately 20 m tall. This has been crowded out by Trees Numbers 1 and 3. As a result, its limbs have become hyper extended laterally, and particularly towards the house and roof of our neighbours. Limbs are now touching the walls, windows and roof of the house, as well as overhanging their drive. We believe that this is now becoming dangerous as well as intrusive. We therefore wish to be able to reduce the height of the tree by 2 metres and also shorten or remove the lateral branches touching and close to the house of the neighbours. Tree Number 3 is a London Plane, between 35 and 40 metres tall. It has many of the issues described above concerning Tree Number 1. It overshadows our garden and blocks out even more light. And in addition it also has branches growing very close to the h
