Proposal

Removal of 4 x 5m sections of hedgerow to facilitate vehicular access to the existing water main to enable 'pipe bursting' of the existing main in which a series of pits are dug along the route, the existing pipe is split and a new pipe is pulled through. The existing main needs replacement due to regular bursts. All hedgerows will be replanted on completion of the scheme using an equal species mix of 20% hawthorn, blackthorn, hazel, field maple and dogwood (unless requested otherwise by B&NES Ecology Team). Any mature trees within the hedgerows will be avoided (gaps will be utilised where possible), and less than 5m will be removed if a smaller width is sufficient for access.
