Where holly is retained in small, sporadic areas in the woodland, reduce to shrub height through coppicing or crown reduction below the height of other canopy trees. Areas of clearance/coppicing can be tailored in a way to create a small path (~5m wide) in the woodland, encouraging some open space habitat for flora and wildlife to utilise and for improved access purposes.
