Proposal
The windows at Stable Cottage have deteriorated over the years and have been repaired many times. There is some water ingress and if they arent replaced there is a risk of damage to the property and, of course, they are also wasteful of energy. The casement windows arent particularly in keeping with the character of the property and the replacements proposed will be an improvement in this context. The french doors will match the new casements. And, the velux replacements will be like for like. 1.Casement windows - The intention is to replace the existing 20th century casement double glazed storm-proof (lipped) casement windows. They will have been installed c1970/1980s and are characterless. The replacements will be flush casements (two panel) of the same size. The new windows will be better quality and more in keeping with an old property (albeit this Stable wouldnt have originally had windows at all). At the same time the new windows will be more energy/environmentally efficient. They will be made to order and be exactly the same size as the current windows (1m x 1m). The replacement will not involve any modification or alteration to the construct of the cottage.NOTE: The choice of window and supplier is the result of research and discussion with neighbours, local people, Historic England and a range of alternative local suppliers of traditional windows. The replacement casement windows/ doors will be more in-keeping with the character of Stable Cottage and other properties in the village and locality. They will be higher quality, more energy efficient and have a narrow glazing bar (22mm) to help provide a more authentic period appearance. 2.French doors At the same time it makes sense to replace the french doors in the lounge with matching materials. 3.Velux windows The property has three velux windows. The one in the large bedroom is in good condition and doesnt need replacing. But the two velux window
