Proposal
Investigation involving testing for purpose of a structural assessment. Trial holes should be completed at the crown of the arch for each span, a total of 3 trial holes should be completed (1 trial hole on each span) Trail hole 1 and 2 should be approximately 452mm in depth, and trail hole 2 should be approximately 644mm in depth. Continue until top of arch crown is reached. The trial holes should be completed on the east side of the carriageway. A total of 6 cores should be taken (2 cores at each trial hole) for compressive strength testing. Core diameter to be 75mm by 180mm in length, required for compressive strength determinations. Contractor to ensure that the cores do not go through the arch ring, as no debris or contaminated water can enter the watercourse below which is the Willow Brook watercourse. An additional 6 No. boreholes must be taken either side of each abutment, boreholes to be completed on the east side of the carriageway, to identify backing height and confirm if backing is present. Boreholes to be 75mm in diameter and cored down approximately 2m to verify the presence and height of backing. The invert depth will need to be measured as well as the height of the water level to the arch for each span.
