Proposal
We would like to make the footprint a bit bigger to include the garage footprint and also add a second storey. The second storey would follow most of the original footprint of the original house (see sketch) however the garage footprint would be a single storey with a vaulted ceiling. The new structure would be a timber frame construction retaining the same roof profile and as much of the facing brick as possible, the other new facing would be of render finish or cedar cladding.Carrying out this work would also give us the opportunity to improve the environmental value of the house and make it more energy efficient.
