T1 Carpinus Betulus (hornbeam) Crown lift the lower branches on the south side of the canopy to a height of 7 metres from ground level, back to the main scaffold with bifurcates into 2 smaller scaffolds. All pruning cuts to be made back to the scaffold branches without leaving stubs of short branch ends.T2 Fagus Sylvatica 'Purpurea Group' (Purple beech) Crown lift the lower branches on the south side of the canopy to a height of 7 metres from ground level, back to the main trunk. There are 4 minor scaffold branches and 6 minor branches which can be removed without damaging the integrity of the tree or spoiling the overall shape and balance of the crown.Remove any ivy growing along the retained scaffolds to allow further light penetration through the canopy to the garden.T3 Fagus Sylvatica 'Asplenifolia' (fern-leaved beech) There are no lower branches to lift and access beneath the canopy is good.Lightly crown thin the upper canopy by 5% to lightly reduce the height and open the canopy allowing more light through to the ground.
