T1 Lombardy poplar - Fell - This tree poses a significant hazard. This tree (Photo1) has been pollarded at least twice in the past due to concerns about larval exit holes at the base facilitating fungal decay. There is now a large central cavity in the base which can be probed from 3 holes between the buttresses. The pollard regrowth is approximately 8m high. The tree has a 5-10 degree lean towards Mill House. There is extensive dead bark (which came away in sheets) on and above the buttress on the NW side (Photo5). The buttress also has a crack in it near ground level (Photo6). There are unusually high number of larval exit holes above the area of missing bark (Photo5). There are two woodpecker holes @ about 4m (Photo7). There is large fungal bracket growing in the union where the framework divides on the SE side.We politely ask that this notification is considered at your earliest convenience so we can remove the tree as soon as possible.
