Conifer - Cut to ground level. The tree is a an overgrown old conifer in the corner of my front garden at 20 Kings Rd Ilkley. The tree overhangs the pavement, the road and my neighbour's garden (18 Kings Rd).Over the years multiple branches have snapped and been removed as an emergency by myself and the previous owners. This is clearly evident by the scars from previously cut branches which overhang the roadside. In February this year after a snowfall more branches snapped off and landed on the pavement in the street and narrowly missed parked cars and injuring a passer by. A tree surgeon was able to clear the debris (after a few days) and cut further broken branches which were dangling. The branches that had fallen were too heavy for me to move and the pavement was blocked for some time. I have photos of this. This month after lots of dry weather further branches have snapped and there are now several branches hanging over the road and my neighbour's property. I have photos of this. On Friday 4th July a qualified tree surgeon (The Green Man of York, tel ) attempted to remove the same and noted it was getting too difficult to climb and abandoned the attempt. He recommended that the tree is cut to ground level as soon as possible. I would like to organise this work as soon as possible for safety reasons and remove the tree. I know it is a conservation area but this tree is now overgrown, unsightly and mishapened. I would consider replacing the tree with something more manageable and appropriate for the space.
